'Guinness Book of World Records 2012' appears on best-sellers list

It’s Sunday, so that means that it’s time for my weekly review of this week’s Publishers Weekly Best-Seller List. According to the list, there are three new books at the top of the four major best-sellers lists this week.

"Zero Day" by David Baldacci replaced "The Litigators" by John Grisham as the No. 1 book on the hardcover fiction best-sellers list.

"Crescent Dawn" by Clive Cussler and Dirk Cussler replaced "Bring Me Home for Christmas" by Robyn Carr as the No. 1 book on the mass market paperback best-sellers list.

"The Next Always" by Nora Roberts replaced "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett as the top book on the trade paperbacks best-sellers list.

"Steve Jobs: A Biography" by Walter Isaacson remained the top book on the hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list.

There are six books on this week’s hardcover fiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They (along with their place on the list) include "Zero Day" by David Baldacci (1), "Hotel Vendome" by Danielle Steel (3), "Lost December" by Richard Paul Evans (6), "Out of Oz" by Gregory Maguire (9), "The Wedding Quilt" by Jennifer Chiaverini (11) and "I Am Half-Sick of Shadows" by Alan Bradley (15).

There are eight books on this week’s hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They include "Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero" by Chris Matthews (3), "Blue Nights" by Joan Didion (5), "No Higher Honor" by Condoleezza Rice (6), "The Time of Our Lives" by Tom Brokaw (7), "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?" by Mindy Kaling (8), "Guinness World Records 2012" (11), "No Regrets" by Ace Frehley with Joe Layden & John Ostrosky (13) and "Great by Choice" by Jim Collins & Morton T. Hansen (14).

There are five books on this week’s mass market paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on that list last week. They include "The Guardian" by Sherrilyn Kenyon (4), "Gideon's Sword" by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child (12), "Makings Spirits Bright" by Fern Michaels, Elizabeth Bass, Rosalind Noonan & Nan Rossiter (13), "Highlander for the Holidays" by Janet Chapman (14) and "Lover Unleashed" by J.R. Ward (15).

There are four books on this week’s trade paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They include "The Next Always" by Nora Roberts (1), "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" by Stieg Larsson (9), "Cleopatra" by Stacy Schiff (11) and "The Tiger's Wife" by Tea Obreht (14).

As a reminder, I’m posting these lists each Sunday because they, as a whole, represent a great, contemporary recommended reading list.
