Five UFO incidents reported in Alabama during April

It’s the second week of the month, so this week I’m giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the past month, courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network.

A search for UFO reports in Alabama between April 1 and April 30 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in five reports from within our state during that time.

The first incident occurred on April 4 on Dauphin Island near Mobile. Just after sunset, the witness was in a west-facing, second-story hotel room and saw a “strange, orange star” over the island’s west end. The witness watched the “star,” which was moving slowly northward against the path of the other stars in the sky. The witness had a laser pointer and shot an indirect beam of light at the object, which immediately began to pulse slightly. The witness then shined the laser pointer directly at the object and it vanished as if someone had flipped a light switch.

Suddenly, a bright, white object appeared over the hotel, traveling north at a swift, steady pace. The witness shined the laser pointer at it again, and then “witnessed a bright flash back at me.” The object then disappeared overhead, the witness said.

The second incident occurred on April 9 somewhere in Alabama. A photographer reported seeing something unusual in a photo that he took at a car accident scene. The photo, pictured above, contained what he described as a circular object in the sky just above the tree line. He noted that the object appeared to have a gray bottom and a “disturbance around the object.”

The third incident occurred on April 15 somewhere in the northern part of the state. Witnesses reported seeing what they at first thought were headlights at the top of a mountain very close to their home. They then saw flashing blue lights, and they thought they were lights from a police car.

“All of a sudden, the flashing blue lights were in a field in front of our home,” the witness reported. “We saw numerous orbs of white, red and blue.”

The flashing lights grew more intense, and then witnesses saw what appeared to be a white, humanoid form that vanished almost as quickly as it appeared.

“There was a red flash in the field across from us that appeared to be the tail of some form moving quickly across the field,” the witness said. “We continued to see more red, white and blue orbs blinking in the field then a red orb appeared to be at the top of the mountain in front of us.”

As soon as witnesses saw this red orb, it quickly flew toward the witnesses, who said that it looked “very insect in form.”

Witnesses continued to see red, white and blue lights at the top of the mountain, hovering up and down above and below the tree line. There was also a very bright, white light on the top of the mountain and then all of a sudden, the lights disappeared. All of this took place over a span of two hours, witnesses said.

“We were both very scared, but remained outside to watch this phenomena,” the witness said. “There is absolutely no way to define these things or the way they moved silently with such speed but gave off so much light. At first, we thought the white orbs were lightning bugs, but later determined the size was much too great to be that. Also, the red flash in the field and white flash that revealed, only for a second, what appeared to be a type of humanoid form, is completely unexplainable to us.”

The fourth incident took place on April 25 and was reported by a former Air Force enlistee living in Daphne.

The witness described seeing something unusual from his front porch between 4:30 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. He was looking East-Northeast when he saw an “extremely bright object” that “got bright, then faded back out.” The object would emit one long blink that lasted nearly a second each time.

“It was far brighter than any star in the sky, yet seemed closer,” the witness said. “I am an ex-Air Force enlistee and know very well what beacon lights or navigation lights look like on aircraft, and it did not blink anything like them.”

The witness said he’d never seen anything like it before, noting that he often tracks satellites and the International Space Station through NASA’s Web site.

“I have seen those also many times, but they have a completely different look and track most of the time,” he said. “This truly was an unidentified flying object.”

The fifth incident occurred on April 30 somewhere in Alabama, and the witness said he lives in the country, away from city lights. He was sitting in his back yard, drinking coffee around 4:30 a.m. when he saw what he at first thought was a fast-moving satellite almost directly overhead. He said the object was at high altitude, higher than any plane he’d ever seen. It wasn’t blinking or making any noise and was moving Southeast. The light also wasn’t colored and there was no contrail.

The witness said he was surprised when about 30 seconds later he saw two more lights, somewhat separated and moving in line with the first light, but offset somewhat from the path of the first.

About a minute later, the witness saw another light following the other lights, almost as if it were in pursuit of the first group. There were a few, wispy clouds in the sky, and the lights disappeared behind the clouds. The lights were equally bright and never changed in intensity. He also noted that they appeared to be traveling extremely fast.

Before closing out this week, I just want to put it out there again that I would be very interested to hear from any readers of The Courant who have witnessed a UFO in Conecuh County. I think a lot of other people would be interested in hearing your story too, and I’d be willing to accept your report on an anonymous basis if you’d be more comfortable with that arrangement.
