Clive Cussler's 'The Storm' takes top spot on fiction best-sellers list

It’s Sunday, so that means that it’s time for my weekly breakdown of this week’s Publishers Weekly Best-Seller List. According to the list, there is only one new book at the top of the four major best-sellers lists this week.

"The Storm" by Clive Cussler replaced "11th Hour" by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro as the No. 1 book on the hardcover fiction best-sellers list.

"It Worked for Me" by Colin Powell remained the No. 1 book on the hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list for the second week in a row.

"Explosive Eighteen" by Janet Evanovich remained atop the mass market paperback best-sellers list for the third week in the row.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" by E.L. James retained its place atop the trade paperbacks best-sellers list for the ninth week in a row.

There are two books on this week’s hardcover fiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They (along with their place on the list) include "The Storm" by Clive Cussler (1) and "A Blaze of Glory" by Jeff Shaara (7).

There are five books on this week’s hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They include "American Grown" by Michelle Obama (4), "You're So Invited" by Cheryl Najafi (5), "Perfect Pies" by Michele Stuart (6), "Cronkite" by Douglas Brinkley (10) and "Platform" by Michael Hyatt (15).

There are 10 books on this week’s mass market paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on that list last week. They include "Big Sky Country" by Linda Lael Miller (2), "The Unexpected Husband" by Debbie Macomber (3), "The Kingdom" by Clive Cussler (4), "A Night Like This" by Julia Quinn (5), "Summer Days" by Susan Mallery (6), "Tick Tock" by James Patterson (7), "Bed of Roses" by Nora Roberts (8), "Eyes Wide Open" by Andrew Gross (12), "Rescue Me" by Rachel Gibson (13) and "Heartwishes" by Jude Deveraux (14).

There are three books on this week’s trade paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They include "Maine" by J. Courtney Sullivan (9), "The Sense of an Ending" by Julian Barnes (10) and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" by Seth Grahame-Smith (13).

As a reminder, I’m posting these lists each Sunday because they, as a whole, represent a great, contemporary recommended reading list.
