This week's movie picks are 'Red Lights' and 'American Reunion'

It’s Wednesday, so today I give you my weekly list of movies that will open in theatres this week as well as a list of movies that will be released this week on DVD.

I hope this will serve as a useful guide as to what’s going on this week if you happen to be near a movie theatre or if you’re looking for something to drop into your NetFlix queue.

Movies that are scheduled to hit theatres this week include:

Ballplayer: Pelotero (Documentary, Sports, Not Rated): Directed by Ross Finkel, Trevor Martin and Jonathan Paley.

Drunkboat (Drama): Directed by Bob Meyer and starring John Malkovich, Jacob Zachar, John Goodman, Dana Delany and Brian Deneen.

Easy Money (Drama, Crime, R): Directed by Daniel Espinosa and starring Joel Kinnaman, Matias Padin, Dragomir Mrsic, Lisa Henni and Mahmut Suvakci.

Farewell, My Queen (Drama, R): Directed by Benoit Jacquot and starring Diane Kruger, Lea Seydoux, Virginie Ledoyen, Xavier Beauvois and Noemie Lyovsky.

Ice Age: Continental Drift (Family, Comedy, PG): Directed by Steve Martino and Mike Thurmeier and starring the voices of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Peter Dinklage and Jennifer Lopez.

The Imposter (Suspense, Mystery, R): Directed by Bart Layton and starring Adam O’Brian, Anna Ruben and Alan Teichman.

The Obama Effect (Comedy, Drama, PG-13): Directed by Charles S. Dutton and starring Charles S. Dutton, Meagan Bell Calloway, Meagan Good, Zab Judah and Emilio Rivera.

Red Lights (Suspense, R): Directed by Rodrigo Cortes and starring Cillian Murphy, Sigourney Weaver, Robert De Niro, Elizabeth Olsen and Toby Jones.

Trishna (Drama, R): Directed by Michael Winterbottom and starring Freida Pinto, Riz Ahmed, Anurag Kashyap, Roshan Seth and Kalki Koechlin.

Union Square (Comedy, Drama): Directed by Nancy Sayoca and starring Mira Sorvino, Tammy Blanchard, Michael Rispoli, Christopher Backus and Mike Doyle.

American Reunion (Comedy, Romance, R): Directed by John Hurwitz and starring Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Seann William Scott, Chris Klein and Mena Suvari.

Being Flynn (Drama, Comedy, R): Directed by Paul Weitz and starring Paul Dano, Robert De Niro, Olivia Thirlby, Julianne Moore and Wes Studi.

Black Limousine (Horror, R): Directed by Carl Colpaert and starring David Arquette, Bijou Phillips, Vivica A. Fox, Nicholas Bishop and Lin Shaye.

Quill: The Life of a Guide Dog (Drama, Not Rated): Directed by Sai Yoichi and starring Kaoru Kobayashi, Kippei Shiina and Teruyuki Kagawa.

If I could only watch one movie at the theatre this week, it would be “Red Lights,” and if I had to pick just one DVD to rent this week, it would be “American Reunion.”
