Child's first Jack Reacher novel, 'Killing Floor' returns to best-sellers list

Today is Sunday, so that means that it’s time for my weekly breakdown of this week’s Publishers Weekly Best-Seller List. According to the list, there are no new books at the top of the four major best-sellers lists this week.

"The Racketeer" by John Grisham remained the No. 1 book on the hardcover fiction best-sellers list for the third week in a row.

"Killing Kennedy" by Bill O'Reilly remained the top book on the hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list for the seventh week in a row.

"Safe Haven" by Nicholas Sparks remained the top book on the mass market paperback best-sellers list for the second week in a row.

"Proof of Heaven" by Eben Alexander remained the No. 1 book on the trade paperbacks best-sellers list for the fifth week in a row.

As unusual as it may sound, there were no new books on this week’s hardcover fiction best-sellers list. It was the same 15 books as last week, just in a slightly different order. This doesn’t happen often, but it does happen every once in a while, usually about once a year.

There were two books on this week’s hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They (and their places on the list) included the "Wheat Belly Cookbook: 150 Recipes to Help You Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight, and Find Your Path Back to Health" by William Davis (7) and "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die: Musings from the Road" by Willie Nelson and Kinky Friedman (14).

There were five books on this week’s mass market paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They included "Full House" by Janet Evanovich (7), "Catch Me: A Detective D.D. Warren Novel" by Lisa Gardner (9), "Return to Sender" by Fern Michaels (10), "Left for Dead: A Novel" by J.A. Jance (12), "Killing Floor" by Lee Child (13), "After Tex" by Sherryl Woods (14) and "The Lady Most Willing...: A Novel in Three Parts" by Julia Quinn, Eloisa James and Connie Brockway (15).

There were three books on this week’s trade paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They included "Reflected in You: A Crossfire Novel" by Sylvia Day (12), "Bared to You: A Crossfire Novel" by Sylvia Day (13) and "Les Miserables" by Victor Hugo and Norman Denny (15).

As a reminder, I’m posting these lists each Sunday because they, as a whole, represent a great, contemporary recommended reading list.
