From “English Notes” by Rance English – “At present baseball has a large problem. For baseball to turn to the President or Congress for help is at best, ridiculous. These folks are so stupid that after 40 years of experience they can’t even balance a checkbook. So the logical conclusion is that all baseball could accomplish this way is to make a large problem even larger.
“There is hope however – if the contract with American gang continues to attack the swiftness demonstrated so far something neat might happen. Maybe with a contract American pitcher on the mound, the anti-baseball crew might strike out in three pitches. Or something like that.
“Seriously, there are definite signs that brain power may be returning to some of our noble legislators. It is mind boggling to watch an intelligent person take a seat in Congress and in the process lose all logic and common sense.”
