This week's movie picks are 'Kick-Ass 2' and 'Olympus Has Fallen'

It’s Wednesday, so today I give you my weekly list of movies that will open in theatres this week as well as a list of movies that will be released this week on DVD.

I hope this will serve as a useful guide as to what’s going on this week if you happen to be near a movie theatre or if you’re looking for something to drop into your NetFlix queue or pick up at the local Redbox.

Movies that are scheduled to hit theatres this week include:

- Ain’t Them Bodies Saints (Drama, Romance, Not Yet Rated): Directed by David Lowery and starring Rooney Mara, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster, Keith Carradine and Nate Parker.

- Austenland (Comedy, Romance, PG-13): Directed by Jerusha Hess and starring Keri Russell, J.J. Field, Jennifer Coolidge, Bret McKenzie and Georgia King.

- Cutie and the Boxer (Doctumentary, R): Directed by Zachary Heinzerling.

- Inch’Allah (Drama, R): Directed by Anais Barbeau-Lavalette and starring Evelyne Brochu, Sabrina Ouazani, Sivan Levy, Yousef Sweid and Hammoudeh Alkarmi.

- Jobs (Drama, PG-13): Directed by Joshua Michael Stern and starring Ashton Kutcher, Josh Gad, James Woods, Dermot Mulroney and Amanda Crew.

- Kick-Ass 2 (Action, Comedy, R): Directed by Jeff Wadlow and starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Jim Carrey, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Clark Duke.

- Lee Daniels’ The Butler (Drama, PG-13): Directed by Lee Daniels and starring Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, Terrence Howard, David Oyelowo and Cuba Gooding Jr.

- Paranoia (Suspense, Drama, PG-13): Directed by Robert Luketic and starring Liam Hemsworth, Gary Oldman, Harrison Ford, Amber Heard and Josh Holloway.

- The Patience Stone (Drama, War, R): Directed by Atiq Rahimi and starring Golshifteh Farahani, Massi Mrowat, Hamid Djavadan and Hassina Burgan.

- You Will Be My Son (Drama, R): Directed by Gilles Legrand and starring Niels Arestrup, Lorant Deutsch, Patrick Chesnais, Anne Marivin and Nicolas Bridet.

New DVD releases this week include:

- A Band Called Death (Documentary, Music, Not Rated): Directed by Jeff Howlett and Mark Covino and starring Alice Cooper, Bobby Hackney, Dannis Hackney, David Hackney and Henry Rollins.

- The Big Wedding (Comedy, Romance, R): Directed by Justin Zackham and starring Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon, Diane Keaton, Katherine Heigl and Amanda Seyfried.

- The Company You Keep (Suspense, R): Directed by Robert Redford and starring Robert Redford, Shia LaBeouf, Julie Christie, Sam Elliott and Brenda Gleeson.

- Emperor (Drama, War, PG-13): Directed by Peter Webber and starring Matthew Fox, Tommy Lee Jones, Eriko Hatsune, Toshiyuki Nishida and Masayoshi Haneda.

- Hatchet III (Horror, R): Directed by B.J. McDonnell and starring Danielle Harris, Kane Hodder, Zach Galligan, Caroline Williams and Derek Mears.

- Olympus Has Fallen (Action, Suspense, R): Directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Dylan McDermott, Ashley Judd and Angela Bassett.

- What Maisie Knew (Drama, R): Directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel and starring Steve Coogan, Julianne Moore, Onata Aprile, Alexander Skarsgard and Joanna Vanderham.

If I could only watch one movie at the theatre this week, it would be “Kick-Ass 2,” and if I had to pick just one DVD to rent this week, it would be “Olympus Has Fallen.”
