Six UFO reports were filed in Alabama during the month of January

It’s the third Thursday of the month, so this week I’m giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the previous month, courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network. A search for UFO reports in Alabama between Jan. 1 and Jan. 31 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in six reports from within our state during that time.

The first incident occurred on Mon., Jan. 5, around 8 p.m. in Birmingham. The witness in this case was walking to his car when he saw an object in the sky that looked like a star. Suddenly, the object disappeared “as if someone flipped a switch,” the witness reported.

The second incident occurred on Fri., Jan. 16, in Monrovia, which is in Madison County. The witness in this case was getting into her boyfriend’s car around 2 a.m. when she looked up and saw what looked like a strobe light in the sky. They began driving towards the light and as they got closer, they realized it was a slow-moving, triangular-shaped “flying object.” In all, they watched the object for about four minutes.

The third incident occurred on Sun., Jan. 18, around 6 p.m. in Alabaster in Shelby County. The witness in this case was on his back patio when he saw two star-like objects. The witness watched these objects for about five minutes before they flew off to the north and faded from sight. The witness said “it was obvious it was not an aircraft, star, satellite, etc.”

The fourth incident occurred on Mon., Jan. 19, around 5:30 a.m. in Greenville in Butler County. The witness in this case said he went outside with his dog and saw a “real, bright light” overhead at an estimated 10,000 feet. The light increased in brightness and then flew off into the sky, the witness said.

The fifth incident occurred on Thurs., Jan. 22, at 1:04 a.m. in Auburn in Lee County. The witness in this case had walked outside to get a charger out of his car when he looked up and saw a “pinkish, reddish light” move across the sky in a “smooth, fluid motion.” The light didn’t fly straight, but instead it moved in a very long S-shaped pattern. The light moved too fast for it to have been a plane, and the witness was only able to see it for around six seconds before it disappeared.

The sixth incident occurred on Tues., Jan. 27, around 6 p.m. in Birmingham in Jefferson County. The witness in this case was driving home from the grocery store when he saw an “object hovering in the distance, blinking and changing colors.” He pulled over and attempted to film the object without success.
