Four UFO sightings reported in Alabama during the month of December

It’s the third Thursday of the month, so this week I’m giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the previous month, courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). A search for UFO reports in Alabama between Dec. 1 and Dec. 31 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in four reports from within our state during that time.

The first incident occurred around midnight on Tues., Dec. 8, near the Mercedes manufacturing plant outside Tuscaloosa. The witness in this case and his wife were traveling west on Interstate Highway 20-59 when they saw a bright, white light just over the western horizon. This unusual light moved from south to north and eventually broke into a “smaller, ascending diamond, with the larger piece staying near level.” In all, this sighting lasted one to two seconds, the witness said.

The witness said that he’s seen shooting stars and meteors all of his life and can even remember seeing Sputnik in 1957, but what he saw on Dec. 8 was different from anything he’d ever seen. “As it broke across the horizon, the light was so very bright” and “seemed strangely white, like phosphorous,” the witness said. Whatever it was, the witness said he’d never forget it, and he noted that his wife reported “feeling strangely afraid” after the incident.

The second incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. on Mon., Dec. 14. The report doesn’t say exactly where in Alabama the incident took place other than to say that it happened somewhere within the state’s borders.

The witness in this case reported seeing “fast circles” traveling across the sky. Thirty minutes later, the witness watched as the “fast circles” fell down out of the sky towards the tree line and out of sight. The witness said the “globe-type” objects were blue and purple in color.

The third incident occurred between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Mon., Dec. 14, in Sylacauga, which is in Talladega County. The witness in this case was sitting on the porch with her husband when she saw the “brightest streak” fly past, traveling below the tree tops. It went by so fast that her husband didn’t see it because he was looking in the wrong direction. The witness said she felt “excited and confused” and “shook for a while” after the sighting.

Despite the fact that it was cold and windy, the woman remained outside to see if she could see the object again.

Just before she went inside, she saw a smaller ball of light pass over her head just as fast as the first, but it wasn’t as bright and left a smoke trail behind it. She called to her husband, who joined her outside, and they watched for another 1-1/2 hours without seeing anything else.

The fourth incident occurred around 5:13 p.m. on Thurs., Dec. 24, in Huntsville. The witness in this case and his wife were driving home from dinner on Christmas Eve, and passed by the Space and Rocket Museum in Huntsville. The man’s wife used her iPhone to snap a few pictures of the Saturn 5 rocket on display outside the museum, and when she viewed the pictures later she noticed something unusual.

A mysterious object in the sky showed up in five different photos she took. In some photos, the object looks spherical, in others it looks cylindrical and in others it appears to possibly have wings. In at least one of the photos, the object appears to feature two white lights. In all five of the photos, the object is blurry and hard to see clearly.

Before closing out this week, I just want to put it out there again that I would be very interested to hear from anyone who have witnessed a UFO, especially in Conecuh County. I think a lot of other people would be interested in hearing your story too, and I’m willing to accept your report anonymously.
