Miller Tigers ruin homecoming, 46-20: T.R. Miller’s offense went into passing gear Friday night and ran away with a 46-20 decision over winless Evergreen. The loss, the Aggies homecoming contest, put their record at 0-8. Miller is 4-4 for the year.
In the first quarter, Miller back Tom Scarbrough picked up an Aggie fumble and outsprinted the Aggies on a 33-yard touchdown run. The extra point try failed.
Minutes later, Butch Stokes plunged over the double line to conclude a Miller drive set up by an Evergreen fumble. The last TD of the first quarter was made by Hank Davis on a five-yard run. Sam Schad booted the PAT on the last two TDs to leave the score at 20-0 Miller at the end of the first quarter. Ronnie Overstreet and Chippy Byrne provided the Miller scoring punch in the second quarter with scoring runs of 10 yards and one yard respectively. Schad added both extra points to give Miller a 34-0 lead at the half.
Evergreen rebounded in the second half with its best offensive effort of the year. George Stinson found a hole in the left side of the Miller defensive wall and galloped 60 yards for the Aggie’s first TD. A quarter later, Bobby Sasser circled left end on a double reverse and covered 63 yards before being dragged down on Miller’s five. Bubba Faulkner pitched to Jack White for one yard and an Aggie score four plays later and Wayne Caylor split the uprights with one of his two extra point kicks of the evening. With little time left in the game, Glenn Bolton connected with Bill Snowden for a 35-yard scoring pass and Caylor converted to end the Aggie scoring at 20 points. Miller scored on two Sam Schad passes of three and 19 yards. His receivers were Ernie Parker and Jimmy Watson.

Ralph Pugh, age 12, proudly exhibits the prize catch of a recent fishing trip made by Richard Brassell’s class of the Evergreen Baptist Sunday School. Ralph, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Pugh, said the bass weighed well over six pounds when he caught it at 7:30 in the morning. It still scaled five pounds, 10 ounces when the class got back to town about three that afternoon.

Evergreen Aggies Maul McKenzie 32-0 For Sixth Win Of The Year: The Evergreen High School Aggies had little trouble moving to a 32 to 0 win over a game-but-overmatched McKenzie Tiger eleven here last Friday night in Brooks Stadium.
Bobby “Pistol Pete” Wells was again the top performer in the Aggie rearworks. The 123-pound pile-driver scored twice and averaged eight yards per on five carries.
(Other outstanding Evergreen players in that game included Ward Alexander Jr., James Andrews, Pace “Hot” Bozeman, Clayton Cobb, Clinton Cobb, Shelton Craig, Cecil Culbreth, Gwyn Daniels, Wayne Douglas, Allen Edson, Paul Hanks, Ed Hooks, Billy Lewis, Capt. Jeff Moorer, Gillis “Red” Morgan, Max Pope, Bill Robinson, Sammy Robison, George Salter, Lavon Shaver, Lavaughn Skipper, Joe Stowers, Johnny Ray Stowers, Billy Watson and Franklin Williamson. Wendell Hart was Evergreen’s head coach.)

Aggies Play Repton Tomorrow Night In Final Home Game Of The Season: The Evergreen High School Aggies wind up their five-game home schedule here tomorrow (Friday) night at 7:30 with the Repton Bulldogs on the opposite end of the field.
The game will move the Aggies within two games of completing the season. Only tough T.R. Miller and up-to-now undefeated Georgiana will be left.
The Aggies will go into the Repton conflict with a record of six wins in seven starts, and that’s a good record in anybody’s league. The Evergreens have lost but one game in their past 17 starts, winning 14 and tying two.

Last Home Game For Lyeffion Here Tonight: The Lyeffion Jackets will close their 1950 home football slate here tonight (Thursday) at 7:30. McKenzie’s Tigers will furnish opposition for the Jackets in their last appearance before the home folks. Admission to the game is 75 cents for adults and 40 cents for students.
Lyeffion has improved steadily since the first game of the season. Tonight the Jackets meet a team with whom they are evenly matched and the game promises to be a thriller. McKenzie has a fancy passing attack which was good for 10 completed tosses against the powerful Evergreen Aggies last week. On the other hand, the Jackets have a smooth ground game with Billy Booker providing the spark.

DOMINO TOURNAMENT AT GYM WEDNESDAY BENEFITS AGGIES: A domino tournament will be held at Memorial Gym, Evergreen High School, next Wednesday night, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. Proceeds of the tournament will be used to entertain the Evergreen High Aggie football squad.
Domino players and others who have enjoyed the play of the Aggies this year and would like to help do something for them are urged to come up next Wednesday night and play. Admission is $1 and card games will also be played.
The tournament is sponsored by the mothers of the players.

McKenzie High Will Observe Homecoming: Homecoming will be observed at McKenzie High School on Nov. 17, a full evening of entertainment planned for all. Dinner will be served 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Following this, a football game between McKenzie and Uriah will be played after which a square dance will be held in the school auditorium.

Evergreen Takes Game From Montgomery: In a fast game here Saturday, the State Secondary Agricultural School team easily defeated the visiting Montgomery County High School boys. The visitors were outclassed from the start. Montgomery won the toss and chose to defend the north goal. She attempted a forward pass on the first play, but it was broken up by Phillips, half for Evergreen. Montgomery lost the ball on downs. Dunn, on a fake end run, carried the ball 35 yards for a touchdown. After this, the Aggies scored at will.
Ward in the second quarter made an end run for 45 yards. Phillips making touchdown on end run. Several forward passes were used successfully by the Aggies, the visitors being absolutely unable to do anything with their passes. Stallworth accepted Cunningham’s forward pass making touchdown. Cunningham and Stallworth each failed to kick goal, four goals being kicked successfully. Ward and Dunn starred for Evergreen.

THE EVERGREEN STAR

Hunters and fishermen are having a splendid time. The woods are full of meat, and the waters are warm and clear.

Jeff Henderson accidentally shot and killed himself Friday afternoon. He went squirrel hunting in the morning and was found dead in the woods about a mile west of Evergreen the next day. His empty gun was lying at his feet, and a dead squirrel in some brush near the breech of it. He had evidently discharged the gun while trying to extricate the squirrel with the butt.
