Jr. League Calls Annual Meeting of Officers, Managers: The annual organizational meeting of the Evergreen Junior Baseball League will be held Thursday night, Feb. 23, at the courthouse at 7:30, according to President Wendell Hart.
Hart said that all league officers, managers of last year’s teams and game officials are asked to be present at this meeting. Officers for 1961 will be elected and preliminary organizational work for this summer’s play will be started.
Among business to come up is a proposal to reduce the number of teams from four to three in the National and American Leagues. Hart said this move is being considered so as to cut play from three to two nights a week and avoid conflict with the Babe Ruth League.
If the new proposal is adopted, the National League will have three teams and each team will have a farm club in the American League. Each league will have one game on two nights of the week.
